Sun Shines on Aphrodite Hills for Successful Autumn Padel Tournament

📢 St. Michael’s Hospice Charity – Open Padel Tournament – 22nd September 2024

Despite torrential rain in other parts of Cyprus, Aphrodite Hills enjoyed sunshine and scattered clouds, along with the usual wind, as we kicked off our first event of the Autumn season: our second Padel tournament of 2024.

The event saw 24 pairs from all over Europe competing in a busy afternoon of matches. The first round was divided into four groups of six teams each, played in a round-robin format. The winners and runners-up from each group advanced to the quarter-finals, which then followed a straight knockout format. The remaining four pairs competed in the plate competition, also on a knockout basis. This format ensured all participants got great value for the number of games played.

The main competition culminated in an exciting final between Aris Skordis & Andrea Theoti and Christian Kleijweg & Mara Strabbing. Christian and Mara emerged victorious, claiming the September Cups.

The Plate competition was equally competitive, with Oliver Lehmann & Paul Reibold facing Pavel Degtoyarev & Kyle Ferguson in the final. Oliver and Paul triumphed, winning the September Plate.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated. Special thanks to our sponsors, Wetsuit, and our match official and referee, Wyn Lewis, who also generously donated the balls. A big thank you to my wife, Hazel, for her excellent administration on the day, and to Aphrodite Hills for their continued support.
